One of the Coolest NFL stats charts ever…

Bonus post before I go on vacation, and this one is awesome.

Remember that area chart I showed you that illustrated how the Eagles playmakers changed over time?  Well I gave Jared (who did the 4th down series) my complete data and he put this together.  Enjoy.  (Sorry you have to click to open it, WordPress apparently doesn’t support Java, so I can’t embed it).

BTW: It’s interactive, play with it…

  1. You’re welcome

Just to clarify, it’s yards from scrimmage for all seasons 1993-2012. The filters below let you choose which team to look at, and which years you want to focus on (sorry for the bad formatting of the years, its easier if you type them in)

You might wonder where the QBs are, but since this is yards from scrimmage and those accrue to the receiver rather than the passer, most QBs don’t show up (McNabb and Vick are exceptions due to their mobility).

    • I’ll have to check with Jared (the Tableau software isn’t Mac compatible), but that should be possible.

At the very least, maybe we can just show team yards rushing/receiving over time.

  2. Seconding the comment about grouping RBs, WRs, TEs, and also adding a request for more colors! Sometimes you get two identical shades bumping up next to each other and it’s confusing. That shouldn’t take away from how awesome this is, which is VERY.
